Training Instructor

The Training Instructor (TI) plays in important role in the development and delivery of training programs to new hires, existing staff and the various departments within NACA. These include the Housing Counselors and Mortgage Consultants in every NACA office and housing counselors outside of NACA’s network.

Responsibilities include: providing support to new trainees through mentoring, observation and feedback; preparing educational materials such as module summaries workbooks, manuals, course objectives and course agendas; keeping attendance records; managing training budgets; and conducting web-based and classroom trainings. The TI must have experience in the mortgage and housing industry. The TI is considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all staff members and monitors employee performance and response to training.


General responsibilities include:

  • Plan, conduct, coordinate and implement a comprehensive training programs for the staff and for out of network nationwide housing counseling training curriculums.
  • Become a resource for housing counselors seeking additional training not limited to mortgage training, but seeking knowledge in topics such as emergency preparedness, tenancy, homelessness, reverse mortgage, home safety and maintenance, etc.
  • Effectively deliver training through a variety of approaches including webinars, classroom style, one-on-one mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Learn internal systems and processes; become a supportive resource able to field questions about a variety of housing and underwriting topics.
  • Work with senior managers, other trainers, and local leaders to reinforce the current curriculum, and continue building a training platform using all available resources to focus on increasing productivity.
  • Designs develops and updates the training materials including manuals, desktop procedures, computer-based training modules, and student evaluation assessments.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitors and stays current with procedural, administrative and system changes to ensure training and policies/procedures are consistent.
  • Maintains records of all training programs and people taught.
