504 Grievance Procedure

If you believe that you have been improperly treated in the course of your housing counseling as a result of your disability status, please take the following steps:

  1. Raise your concerns with your counselor and the Office Manager for the NACA office in which you are receiving counseling. When possible, put your concerns in writing. Your counselor, or your counselor’s supervisor, will respond to you within 10 days after receipt of your complaint. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive from your local NACA office, move to step 2.
  2. Contact Attorney Marissa Landrau Pirazzi (NACA’s 504 Coordinator) at [email protected], 225 Centre Street, Suite 100, Boston, MA 02119. Within 14 days, the 504 Coordinator will review NACA policies and procedures to determine whether your assertions have merit and make any corrections necessary to ensure compliance with section 504.

The judgment in the arbitration proceeding shall be final and binding on the parties, and the judgment on such award rendered by the Arbitrator may be entered in any court having competent jurisdiction. Each party required to participate shall be personally responsible for their share of the costs of arbitration (or those required by the arbitration tribunal); provided, however, that if Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America prevails in any such arbitration, Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America shall, in addition to all other remedies provided by law, be entitled to an award of its reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.
