NACA to host “Achieve the Dream” affordable homeownership event in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Affordable homeownership is almost unheard of these days, with housing costs rising to an all-time high. That’s why NACA, the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, is bringing its Achieve the Dream event to Richmond.

Community members are invited to take advantage of this free three day event at Virginia Union University, designed to provide a genuine pathway to homeownership.

The event will be held on Friday, March 21st through Sunday, March, 23rd, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

北美民航局 (Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America) aims to combat the legacy of racism and exclusion by facilitating affordable homeownership for people of color. Through its purchase program, NACA tackles significant barriers in the housing market that contribute to the historically low homeownership rates among African Americans and other minority groups.

“Many families are left struggling to save for down payments or meet traditional lending criteria,” said Bruce Marks, NACA CEO. “NACA’s Achieve the Dream event offers a game-changing solution, helping low- to moderate-income individuals and families obtain affordable homeownership —without the financial hurdles and other obstacles that often block the path to homeownership.”

NACA’s Best in America Mortgage removes the biggest barriers by offering no down payment, no closing costs, no mortgage insurance, below-market fixed rates, and no consideration of credit scores.

During this event, NACA will collaborate with the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) to enable public housing residents and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher holders to shift from renting to homeownership. They can use their rental assistance for mortgage payments, creating a pathway toward long-term financial stability and generational wealth.

“This partnership would end residents’ dependency on public assistance” said RRHA CEO Steven Nesmith. “Public housing families and those with a Section 8 voucher can now achieve the dream of affordable homeownership, build wealth and ultimately become self-sufficient.”

Attendees will receive one-on-one counseling, participate in homebuyer workshops, and many will even qualify for a mortgage on the spot. This event is transformative for Richmond families dealing with increasing rents and few affordable housing choices.
